The Elgin Youth Symphony Orchestra depends on the donation of time and other intangible support from parents. Each family is asked to help in a variety of EYSO activities, in committee tasks, in chaperoning events, performing clerical or specialized professional tasks, etc. Please complete the Parent Volunteer form and return it to the EYSO office.
April 10, 2011 is the annual Open Rehearsal, an EYSO tradition. Parents, friends, family members, and music teachers are welcome to attend this rehearsal for the opportunity to sit inside the orchestra and hear it "from the inside out." For those who would just like to observe, you're welcome to come sit in the back durring the rehearsal to get a feel of the EYSO. In addition to the open rehearsals, the Chamber Music Institute (CMI) will be performing a FREE (and open to the public) concert at 1:30PM for you to enjoy.
Youth Symphony and Philharmonia students receive a weekly or biweekly memo that highlights upcoming events, important announcements, approaching deadlines, and changes in the calendar. It is imperative that students share this information with parents. Parents, please ask to see the memo each week when your student returns home.
The EYSO functions with a small full-time and part-time staff who depend on students and parents to respond promptly to deadlines, to be aware of the calendar, and to communicate in a timely manner. Please help by saving us extra or needless phone calls. Thank you.
