EYSO Young Artists Concerto Competition
EYSO Young Artists Concerto Competition provides a chance to perform a solo concerto with a full orchestra.
Tours and exchange concerts with other young musicians
Sectionals, coaching and on-stage rehearsal and performances
with members of the acclaimed Elgin Symphony Orchestra, the 2006 ICO Orchestra of the Year.
In the 2007-08 season, the Illinois Brass Quintet hosted a Master Class and performed at the Blizzard Theatre.
Sectionals are instructed by professional musicians.
Exciting repertoire
such as Copland's Billy the Kid; Mussorgsky's A Night on Bald Mountain; Stravinsky's Finale from "The Firebird"; Bernstein's Overture to "Candide"; Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Suite.
Robert Hanson Award, Robert Durnbaugh Award and the Carol Ann Thomas Award
is intended to provide financial assistance for major summer musical experiences for members of the EYSO.
Fall Camp
is a fun-filled weekend of rehearsals and a high-energy kick-off to the season.
In past years the EYSO:
- Performed at the prestigious Aberdeen International Youth Festival in Aberdeen, Scotland, August 1-12, 2006.
- Mezzo soprano Kitt Reuter-Foss performed with the Youth Symphony March 16, 2008.
- Rock band NYCO featuring Ted Atkatz performed multiple songs composed for the Symphony, and performed at ECC's Blizzard Theatre and at the Park West (in Licoln Park).
- School Day tours to multiple Elementary, Middle and High Schools in the Chicagoland area
